Scanning

Basix International supply and install the product range, American Science & Engineering (AS&E).  The AS&E X-ray Inspection Systems are used by governments and corporations around the world to combat terrorism, drug and weapons smuggling, illegal immigration and trade fraud.  AS&E specializes in detection technologies that uncover dangerous and illusive threats, including explosive, plastic and metal weapons, and radioactive devices.  These X-ray systems are deployed worldwide at ports and borders, military and high-threat facilities.  The signature technology - Z® Backscatter - gives the AS&E systems unparalleled detection capabilities, making it the technology of choice when the highest of security is required.

Products

OMNIVIEW GANTRY

HIGH-ENERGY CARGO AND VEHICLE INSPECTION SYSTEM

The only relocatable, high-energy system available with multi-view capacity - three sided Z® Backscatter imaging views for left, right and top-sided imaging, combined with high-energy transmission for dense cargo.

Z-PORTAL

DRIVE THROUGH CARGO AND VEHICLE SCREENING SYSTEM

The most comprehensive drive-through inspection system capable of scanning vehicles and their cargo for detecting explosives, drugs, or stowaways with three-sided Z® Backscatter imaging of the scanned vehicle.

Z-BACKSCATTER VAN

MOBILE CARGO AND VEHICLE SCREENING SYSTEM

The number-one selling mobile X-ray inspection system on the market, the ZBV is a low cost, extremely maneuverable screening system built into a commercially available van.  The Z® Backscatter detects explosives, drugs and stowaways.

GEMINI

PARCEL AND BAGGAGE INSPECTION

Superior threat detection for mail, parcel and baggage screening that combines dual-energy transmission and Z® Backscatter X-ray technology.  Gemini offers the unique capability to simultaneously detect both metallic and non-metallic threats.

SMART CHECK

PERSONNEL SCREENING SYSTEM

Safely and quickly screens people for all types of contraband hidden under clothing, while ensuring privacy.  SmartCheck displays metallic and non-metallic threats and contrabands, such as drugs, guns, knives, explosives and IED's.

The dual-energy transmission with Z® Backscatter technology for the most comprehensive threat detection available.  It is the only system to combine advanced, commercially-proven technologies in a true multi-technology system.

The dual-energy image (right) shows common items in a suitcase:  PDA, laptop power cord etc.  The Z ® Backscatter image of the same suitcase reveals contraband, liquid explosive and a Glock Firearm.

The Omni-View high energy technology can penetrate 14 inches of steel or 8.5 feet of oil.  The Z® Backscatter technology provides material discrimination quality, photo-like images, highlighting organic materials such as explosives and drugs.

HOW Z® BACKSCATTER REVEALS ORGANIC THREATS

As X-rays hit an object, some are absorbed which produces an transmission X-ray image, and others are "scattered".  Z®  Backscatter images are formed from the X-rays that are scattered back towards the X-ray source through a process called Compton scattering.  Low atomic number materials scatter these X-rays back towards the source and indicate low-density materials, such as plastic explosives, plastic weapons, drugs and other organics.

RADIO DETECTION TECHNOLOGY

The combination of radiation detection with X-ray imaging greatly increases the probability of detecting a concealed radioactive source.  Unshielded or moderately shielded sources will be sensed by the radiation detectors, while a heavily shielded source will create an anomaly in the X-ray image.

ASE-INSPECTION SOFTWARE

AS&E's imaging hardware and sophisticated ASE Inspection software further assists the operator in refining the inspection capability and provides the ability to analyze and store images for evidentiary purposes.
